New Covenant faced Eastern Mennonite in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Gryphons narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Flames 1-0. New Covenant's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matches.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Caden Smith, who's now up to five this season.

New Covenant's victory bumped their record up to 6-0-1. As for Eastern Mennonite, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Covenant will take on Timberlake Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eastern Mennonite, they will take on Christchurch School in a tournament on Friday.
