Basketball Recap: Beckett Coon Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Harnett Central + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Willow Spring, Fuquay - Varina was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Everything went their way against the Harnett Central Trojans as they made off with an 89-69 win. The score was close at halftime, but the Bengals pulled away in the second half with 50 points.

Fuquay - Varina got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Beckett Coon out in front who shot 42% from the field en route to 23 points and five assists. Coon is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in each of the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abdou Diop, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Fuquay - Varina was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harnett Central only posted four.

Despite the loss, Harnett Central still got an impressive performance from Rylan Beasley, who shot 82% from the field on his way to 21 points and six boards. Beasley continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was King Murdock, who went 7-for-12 en route to 15 points and five rebounds.

Fuquay - Varina's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Harnett Central, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Fuquay - Varina didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 87-54 victory against Athens Drive on the 25th. As for Harnett Central, they will take on Clayton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
