Softball Recap: St. Catherine's Gets the Win

St. Catherine had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out Nansemond-Suffolk Academy 2-1 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win St. Catherine's has posted since April 16, 2024.

St. Catherine's let Day Vetter and Olivia Tull run wild. Vetter scored a run while going 4-for-5, while Tull went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Those four hits gave Vetter a new career-high.

The loss snapped Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's winning streak at six games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-1 record.

Coming up, St. Catherine's will face off against Greenbrier Christian Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Manteo at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
