Softball Recap: Independence Beats Shady Spring for Their Fourth Straight Win

Independence came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Shady Spring Tigers as they made off with a 15-2 win. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 19 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Emma Lilly, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Emma Simpson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Independence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 16-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Independence pushed their record up to 22-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Shady Spring, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.

As of now, neither Independence nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
