League recap: Ramos' hitting boosts Cobre

2A District 5 league recap: 3/27/13

Regan Ramos was the hottest hitter in 2A District 5 this week, racking up a .818 average, one home run and six RBIs. Meanwhile, Cobre put together a 4-0 week.

The Indians had a successful week, as they won four total games to lead the league. Cobre beat Socorro 12-0, Robertson 14-6, Raton 17-5 and Bloomfield 5-1.

Mesilla Valley Christian boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

There were eight hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. They were led by Regan Ramos, who hit .818 this week (9-for-11).

The Indians' Willie Fletcher struck out nine the Bobcats hitters en route to a 5-1 victory on March 22. Over his seven innings pitched he allowed one run on two hits.



Christopher Thomas drove in five runners on Thursday in Cobre's 17-5 victory over the Tigers. He went 1-for-4 and scored two runs.
