Baseball Recap: Thunderbird Snags Fourth Win in Last Five Games

Thunderbird got themselves on the board against Bradshaw Mountain on Monday, but Bradshaw Mountain never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Bears. This was payback for the Titans, who suffered a 14-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Matt Hornburg made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Hornburg wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Austin Coates, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Thunderbird has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. Bradshaw Mountain's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2.

Thunderbird has already played their next game, a 7-4 defeat against Evergreen on the 19th. As for Bradshaw Mountain, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 victory against Lakewood on the 18th.
