Basketball Game Preview: Declo Hornets vs. West Side Pirates

The Declo Hornets will face off against the West Side Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Declo comes in on 11 and West Side on five.

Last Saturday, Declo didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Malad, but they still walked away with a 55-51 win. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Dragons are ranked 70th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Side). They were the clear victor by a 70-46 margin over Wendell on Saturday.

Declo's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for West Side, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
