Basketball Recap: Union City Comes Up Short

Union City played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the New Castle Trojans, falling 61-26. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-11.

Despite the loss, Union City still got an impressive performance from Oaklee Reichard, who posted seven points. Lindsey Evans also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Mallory Owens went supernova for New Castle, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 boards gave Owens a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alana Orr, who went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points.

Union City's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14. As for New Castle, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 5-15 record.

Union City has already played their next game (against Hagerstown), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. New Castle didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-28 defeat against Mt. Vernon on the 28th.
