Softball Game Preview: Rainier Columbians vs. Warrenton Warriors

Rainier and Warrenton are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Columbians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Warrenton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Rainier, who comes in off a win.

Rainier came out on top against Toutle Lake on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 20-run fourth inning. The Columbians blew past the Ducks 22-7. The result was nothing new for the Columbians, who have now won six games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Destiny McKay was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Twichell, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Rainier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .730. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Warrenton's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Banks.

Warrenton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Warrenton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10-1. As for Rainier, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
