Baseball Recap: Madeira Beats Indian Hill for Their Fourth Straight Win

Madeira took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Indian Hill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The MUSTANGS/AMAZONS came out on top in a nail-biter against the Braves on Friday, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS have posted against the Braves since April 20, 2022.

Nate Hyland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Evan Cissell was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Carson Shafer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win (which was Madeira's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Indian Hill, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madeira will head out to challenge Mariemont at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Indian Hill, they will challenge Roger Bacon at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Braves surely won't give up without a fight.
