Baseball Recap: Kermit Yellow Jackets vs. Lovington Wildcats
Kermit had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Lovington on Monday. The Kermit Yellow Jackets were the clear victor by a 12-5 margin over the Lovington Wildcats. For the Yellow Jackets, this counts as revenge for the 4-1 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2022.
Zakry Salais made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, John Lara was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mauricio Perez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Kermit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lovington only posted an OBP of .417.
The win got Kermit back to even at 6-6. As for Lovington, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
