Softball Recap: Malakoff Snags Ninth Win in Last 11 Games

There's no place like home for Malakoff, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Winona Wildcats a 17-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Tigers have won 11 matches by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Malakoff has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Winona, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Looking ahead, Malakoff will venture away from home to take on Elkhart at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Elks will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. Winona does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
