Softball Recap: Alvirne Takes a Loss

Alvirne had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-13 to make it five. They lost 22-3 to the Timberlane Owls. The Broncos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Owls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2022.

As for Timberlane, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

For Timberlane's part, they let Juliana DeVito and Chaunda Poulin run wild. DeVito got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Poulin got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Those four RBI gave DeVito a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Salerno, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.

Looking ahead, Alvirne will be playing at home against Manchester Central at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Broncos are facing the Little Green at the right time seeing as the Little Green are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Timberlane, they are taking a road trip to square off against Bedford at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.94 runs per game on average), something the Owls will no doubt try to take advantage of.
