Preview: Fieldston Eagles vs. Morristown-Beard Crimson
The Fieldston Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Morristown-Beard Crimson at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Fieldston is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Morristown-Beard in their respective states (Fieldston is ranked 63rd in New York, while Morristown-Beard is ranked 274th in New Jersey).
Last Saturday, Fieldston was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 10-6 to Hackley.
Despite their loss, Fieldston saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dexter Barton, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, was perhaps the best of all.
Meanwhile, Morristown-Beard's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell to Blair Academy 36-31. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Fieldston's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Morristown-Beard, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-4.
Fieldston came out on top in a nail-biter against Morristown-Beard in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, sneaking past 30-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fieldston since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
