Softball Recap: Stratford Comes Up Short

New Fairfield hit Stratford with a four-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 6-5. The loss continues a trend for the Red Devils in their meetings with the Rebels: they've now lost three in a row.

Shyan Rolle and Ashlyn Tracy stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rolle went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Tracy got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs. Carolyne Burlone was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Stratford now has a losing record of 6-7. As for New Fairfield, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-9 record.

Stratford didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-2 defeat against Immaculate on the 13th. As for New Fairfield, they will face off against Brookfield at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bobcats' pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so the Rebels' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
