Softball Recap: Petaluma Triumphs

Petaluma had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Marin Catholic Wildcats on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since April 16th.

Lily Pardini spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Petaluma saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Caselli, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Petaluma's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Marin Catholic, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8.

As of now, neither Petaluma nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
