Basketball Recap: Sayreville's Win Ends 11-Game Losing Streak on the Road

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Sayreville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 50-44 W over the Dunellen Destroyers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 51-39 back in January.

Several Destroyers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Fabiana Ames Castillo, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 19 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Ames Castillo a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Sophie Jimenez, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards.

Sayreville's victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7. As for Dunellen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
