Laurens extends home losing streak to three

Recap: Laurens Raiders vs. Greenwood Eagles

The Laurens Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Greenwood, falling 52-24. While losing is never fun, Laurens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Greenwood is ranked fifth).

Laurens' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nyri Allen, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Faith Jackson, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.

Laurens' defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-9. As for Greenwood, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laurens will take on Wade Hampton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wade Hampton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 253 points over their last four contests. As for Greenwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
