Baseball Recap: Upper Perkiomen Has No Trouble Against Norristown

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fleetwood, Upper Perkiomen was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Norristown Eagles with a sharp 8-1 victory. With that win, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Cole Pierce spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Ben Godshall and Stephen Mumford did most of the damage at the plate: Godshall scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Mumford went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Mumford snagged this season.

Upper Perkiomen's record now sits at 4-1. As for Norristown, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Upper Perkiomen is set to face off against their familiar foe Pottsgrove at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Norristown will square off against rival Upper Merion Area at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
