Softball Recap: Eastern Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Eastern lost to Madison back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Musketeers walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Cubs.

Bracie Jackson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Jackson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bailey Trainor, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave Trainor a new career-high. Alyssa Calloway was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Eastern has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Eastern has already played their next game, a 6-3 defeat against Lanesville on the 12th. As for Madison, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 4-3 loss against East Central on the 9th.
