Lisle is 1-9 against Peotone since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. Lisle is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Lisle fell victim to St. Edward and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Green Wave by a score of 2-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.
Megan Bradley spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Lisle saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was McKenna Riley, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Riley's first of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Peotone, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand St. Anne an 8-0 shutout on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Blue Devils as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Sophie Klawitter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Meghan O'Connor was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Caelan Farmer was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
Peotone was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Anne only posted a batting average of .136.
Lisle is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3. As for Peotone, their record now sits at 3-6.
Peotone's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lisle has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. It's a different story for Peotone, though, as they've only averaged .316. Will they be able to contain Lisle's hitters?
Lisle suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Peotone in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
