Baseball Recap: Waverly Falls Short Against Ranked Gretna East

Waverly faced Gretna East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Vikings took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Griffins earlier this season, when they won 7-5.

Waverly saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Gunderson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

The defeat snapped Waverly's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 20-8 record. As for Gretna East, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-9.
