Softball Recap: Bishop Amat Extends Winning Streak to Four

Bishop Amat proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 19) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the St. Paul Swordsmen 6-5. The victory was nothing new for the Lancers as they're now sitting on four straight.

Samantha Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Avery Hipolito, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten matchups. Kayla Johnson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Hipolito wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Bishop Amat kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive games.

Bishop Amat now has a winning record of 10-9. As for St. Paul, they dropped their record down to 7-9 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Amat will face off against Valley View at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley View's pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so Bishop Amat's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Paul, they will challenge St. Anthony at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. St. Paul is facing St. Anthony at the right time seeing as St. Anthony is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
