Lumberton waltzed into their contest on Thursday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They strolled past the Cape Fear Colts with points to spare, taking the game 59-42. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 70-40 back in December of 2024.

Cape Fear lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Shanel Sutton, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 15 times she's played. Elisabeth Kirkland was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Lumberton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points over those games. As for Cape Fear, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Lumberton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 46-33 loss against Purnell Swett on the 14th. As for Cape Fear, they have also already played their next contest, a 51-40 win against Gray's Creek on the 14th.
