Dunbar extends road losing streak to eight

Recap: Dunbar Tigers vs. Fort Myers Green Wave

The Dunbar Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 49-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Myers. While losing is never fun, Dunbar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 619th, while Fort Myers is ranked 208th).

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Garyan Burger, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobey Babernitch, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds.

Leading Fort Myers to victory were Therry Theresias and Marquielle Tory. Theresias scored 11 points along with nine rebounds, while Tory scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Tory continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Alex Thelusma was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.

Dunbar dropped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Fort Myers, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Dunbar won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North Fort Myers at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. North Fort Myers is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.1 points per game. As for Fort Myers, Fort Myers and Palmetto Ridge will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
