Basketball Recap: Southern Comes Up Short

Southern was the 58-48 winner over Moore when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Southern Trojans were dealt a 54-15 defeat at the hands of the Moore Mustangs on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 118th).

Southern has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season. As for Moore, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern will face off against Fairdale at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Moore, they are taking a road trip to challenge Collins at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
