Basketball Recap: Des Moines East Takes a Loss

Des Moines East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Urbandale J-Hawks and fell 69-42. While losing is never fun, the Scarlets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the J-Hawks are ranked 44th).

Des Moines East's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Urbandale, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season.

Des Moines East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Urbandale, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-42 victory against Des Moines East/Reed Christian Academy on the 20th.
