Last Thursday, High Tech Mesa got the win against Liberty Charter by a conclusive 3-0.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant High Tech Mesa was: they took every set by at least 24 points. The final score came out to 25-1, 25-1, 25-1.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Victory Christian Academy had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Patriots 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since April 19th.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (101-100) Victory Christian Academy actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 15-6.
Victory Christian Academy's win came from a few key players High Tech Mesa will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brad Chier, who had 22 kills, 16 digs, and seven aces. He has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 29 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Esteban Torres, who had ten digs and six aces.
Victory Christian Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in March of 2024.
High Tech Mesa's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-12. As for Victory Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-14.
