Baseball Recap: Independence Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Independence was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Silver Creek Raiders. For the 76ers, this counts as revenge for the 18-2 win the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Xavier Moreno made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Moreno wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Todd, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Todd is becoming a predictor of Independence's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't).

The victory (which was Independence's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Silver Creek, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-11 record.

Independence will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
