Volleyball Recap: Anselmo-Merna Takes a Loss

In Thursday's Canine Competition, Anselmo-Merna had to take the L. They fell just short of the Arthur County Wolves by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Coyotes just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Shayleigh Coleman paced Anselmo-Merna's offense, picking up 11 kills. Coleman got some help from Lily Thornton and her 24 assists. Thornton was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Arthur County can attribute much of their success to Ryan Eilers, who had nine digs and one assist. That's the most digs Eilers has posted since back in September.

Anselmo-Merna's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Arthur County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Anselmo-Merna didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Twin Loup on the 18th. As for Arthur County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Sandhills/Thedford on the 18th.
