Basketball Recap: Mesilla Valley Christian School's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Mesilla Valley Christian School entered their tilt with Hot Springs on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took down the Hot Springs Tigers 50-32. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the SonBlazers also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mesilla Valley Christian School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nevaeh Benjamin, who posted 23 points along with eight boards and four blocks. The contest was Benjamin's third in a row with at least ten points. Katey Black was another key player, putting up 19 points and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Hot Springs lost, don't look at Alex Gonzales. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. Gonzales is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Littleton, who had eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Mesilla Valley Christian School's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-1. As for Hot Springs, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mesilla Valley Christian School will welcome Hot Springs at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th. As for Hot Springs, they will face off against Dexter at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
