Football Recap: Cooper Powell and Carter Fortenberry Pace Columbia Academy Defense

Columbia Academy lost against Silliman Institute back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars lost to the Wildcats on the road by a 34-19 margin. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Although Columbia Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Logan Buckley, Carter Fortenberry, and Bentley Myers.

Columbia Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cooper Powell and Fortenberry. Fortenberry got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Columbia Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Silliman Institute, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Looking ahead, Columbia Academy will challenge Central Hinds Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Silliman Institute, they will square off against Copiah Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colonels' defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them.
