Softball Recap: Cottage Hill Christian Academy Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Cottage Hill Christian Academy won against McGill-Toolen last Tuesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Warriors beat the Flomaton Hurricanes by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 15-4. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by eight runs or more this season.

Madison Brown made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games she's played.

In other batting news, Makenzie Gartman and Paislei Daughtery did most of the damage at the plate: Gartman scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Daughtery scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Gartman has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaylyn Mosley, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Cottage Hill Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in six consecutive games.

Cottage Hill Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Flomaton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

Looking ahead, Cottage Hill Christian Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Elberta at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Flomaton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Excel at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
