Basketball Game Preview: Colonie Central Raiders vs. Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets

The Colonie Central Raiders and the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets will face off at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Colonie Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Aquinas Institute by a score of 80-71 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Rush-Henrietta put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Lockport for the full four quarters, racking up an 80-51 victory. That looming 80-51 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Royal Comets yet this season.

Colonie Central better focus on containing Jalen Taggart and Avery Council as the pair were huge in Rush-Henrietta's win. Taggart went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 33 points, while Council went 12 of 19 on his way to 26 points and eight assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Taggart has scored at least a third of Rush-Henrietta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Abdul-Haqq, who posted seven points and three blocks.

Rush-Henrietta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Rush-Henrietta pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Colonie Central, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
