The American Prep WV Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Wendover Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. American Prep WV knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Wendover likes a good challenge.
American Prep WV was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Salt Lake Academy on Monday. The Eagles blew past the Griffins, posting a 65-33 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Griffins: they've now won three in a row.

American Prep WV relied on the efforts of Chris Monroy, who dropped a double-double with 27 points and ten rebounds, and Marcus Versluis, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. Thanks to that strong game, Versluis now owns an excellent 48.6% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Sharmaakay Mberwa, who posted four points and eight rebounds.
American Prep WV smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Wendover was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. The contest between the Wildcats and St. Joseph didn't end well, with the Wildcats falling 62-46. Wildcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Jayhawks since Friday.
American Prep WV will need to focus on slowing down Angel Mendoza, one of several Wendover players who made an impact when they last played. He earned ten points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Keanu DuBoise, who had 13 points.
American Prep WV's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Wendover, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
American Prep WV was able to grind out a solid victory over Wendover in their previous meeting back in January, winning 69-61. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
