Basketball Recap: Basic Falls Despite Big Games from Jeremiah Combs and TJ Edmond

Basic's tournament run continued when they took on Clovis West on Saturday. The Wolves took an 80-65 bruising from the Golden Eagles. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Basic's loss came despite strong showings from TJ Edmond and Jeremiah Combs. Edmond dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Combs shot 46% from the field to rack up 15 points and three steals. Edmond has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Yakubik, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 11 points and three steals.

Basic's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Clovis West, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Basic will take on St. Paul in a holiday battle at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves will be up against the Swordsmen's rather soft defense (which has allowed 69.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Clovis West and West will round out the year against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
