Softball Recap: Spring Mills Has No Trouble Against Smithsburg

The Spring Mills Cardinals got the win against the Smithsburg Leopards on Saturday by a conclusive 13-1. Considering the Cardinals have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Chloe Munson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Sabrina Nutter was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Alexis Wagner was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Spring Mills lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Spring Mills and bumps their season record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Smithsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Spring Mills will take on Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Smithsburg, they will face off against Boonsboro at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
