Basketball Recap: Ja'veon Sargent-Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kennedy over Hancock

Kennedy suffered their closest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Hancock Eagles by a score of 48-46. The Crusaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 54-50.

Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ja'Veon Sargent-Williams, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Dahl, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

The loss snapped Kennedy's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-15 record. As for Hancock, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-18 record this season.

Kennedy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Juarez at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season. As for Hancock, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Tilden at 5:00 p.m. on February 11th.
