Basketball Recap: Point Loma Comes Up Short

Point Loma has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-62 heartbreaker at the hands of the Madison Warhawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pointers of the 73-59 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why Point Loma lost on Friday, don't look at Grant Stewart. Despite the final result, he went 12 for 18 on his way to 31 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Stewart a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Na'Sean Hardy, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Madison to victory, but perhaps none more so than Adein Lea?E, who went 6 of 8 en route to 13 points and seven boards. Runnar(Rj) Miller was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.

Point Loma's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Madison, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-6.

Point Loma has already played their next match, a 67-63 victory against Coronado on the 31st. As for Madison, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-49 loss against Mission Bay on the 28th.
