Softball Recap: Buckeye Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Buckeye can now relate to. They fell just short of the West Geauga Wolverines by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. The Bucks were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the eight games prior), but the Wolverines' pitcher proved too tough.

Lilly Young spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Buckeye saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eleanor Shaw, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Sarah Michaels was another, going 2-for-3 with one run.

Buckeye's defeat dropped their record down to 20-6-1. As for West Geauga, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Buckeye nor West Geauga have any future games scheduled.
