Basketball Game Preview: Hagerman Pirates vs. Raft River Trojans

Hagerman is 1-9 against Raft River since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hagerman Pirates will be playing at home against the Raft River Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hagerman is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Shoshone: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Hagerman blew Shoshone out of the water with a 74-34 final score. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Ky Kendall continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 34 points and ten steals. The match was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Mavencamp, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Hagerman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Raft River came into Wednesday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Glenns Ferry with a sharp 75-49 victory on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Trojans have posted against the Pilots since January 7, 2022.

Hagerman has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Raft River, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7.

Hagerman came out on top in a nail-biter against Raft River in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, sneaking past 67-64. Does Hagerman have another victory up their sleeve, or will Raft River turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
