Basketball Recap: Hoopeston Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Claire Dixon and Brylie Cox

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hoopeston can now relate to. They fell 43-35 to the Watseka/Milford Warriors on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Cornjerkers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Warriors are ranked 189th).

Hoopeston's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brylie Cox, who posted nine points, and Claire Dixon, who scored 14 points. Cox is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Hoopeston's defeat dropped their record down to 20-11. As for Watseka/Milford, their win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-4.

Hoopeston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Watseka/Milford, they have already played their next contest, a 50-24 victory against Reed-Custer on the 25th.
