Football Recap: Canyon Hills Comes Up Short

After soaring to 32 points the game before, Canyon Hills was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They took a blow against the Army-Navy Warriors, falling 34-0. If the Rattlers were looking for revenge after losing 43-0 to the Warriors when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Canyon Hills lost, don't look at Makahi Fields-Cook. Despite the final result, he rushed for 121 yards. Fields-Cook's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 121 rushing yards.

While Canyon Hills came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Army-Navy: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 35.3%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Josiah Strother, Mason Lee, D'Shawn Sampson, and Taylon Sheriff, who each logged one passes deflected. Canyon Hills hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.39 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Canyon Hills' defensive line didn't let Judah Bogard., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Strother, Cody Tolbert, and Daniel Westhafer, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Canyon Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Army-Navy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon Hills will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Rancho Buena Vista at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Army-Navy, they will take on La Jolla Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. This will be the Warriors' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
