Softball Recap: LaBrae Takes a Loss

After flying high against Poland Seminary on Monday, LaBrae came back down to earth. The Vikings fell just short of the Jefferson Area Falcons by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

Leah DeArmitt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Riley Rowe was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Shelby Bragg, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

LaBrae dropped their record down to 19-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Jefferson Area, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season.

LaBrae wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-5 victory against Crestview on the 16th. As for Jefferson Area, they have also already played their next contest, a 16-0 win against Struthers on the 15th.
