Preview: Southside Christian Sabres vs. Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers

Southside Christian has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Southside Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.

Southside Christian struggled with assists on Friday (High Point Academy had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Southside Christian received a tough blow as they fell 49-35 to High Point Academy.

Southside Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zane Hagy, who scored nine points along with five rebounds, and Bryson Duck who scored eight points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Christ Church Episcopal had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.9 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They blew past Ware Shoals, posting a 99-43 victory at home. Christ Church Episcopal has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 20 points or more this season.

Southside Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Christ Church Episcopal, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5.

Southside Christian came up short against Christ Church Episcopal when the teams last played back in January, falling 59-48. Can Southside Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
