Recap: Gwynn Park Yellowjackets vs. Fairmont Heights Hornets
In what's become a running theme this season, the Gwynn Park Yellowjackets gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 74-11 victory over Fairmont Heights at home. Winning may never get old, but Gwynn Park sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Gwynn Park's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anaiya Morrison, who scored 19 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morrison has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keira Mason, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fairmont Heights struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Gwynn Park racked up 24 assists.
Gwynn Park's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.4 points per game. As for Fairmont Heights, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
Coincidentally, Gwynn Park and Fairmont Heights will both be playing Potomac the next time they take the court. Fairmont Heights will host Potomac at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Gwynn Park will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
