Basketball Recap: John F. Kennedy Catholic Comes Up Short

John F. Kennedy Catholic lost against Gilmour Academy back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles lost 80-58 to the Gilmour Academy Lancers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Lancers are ranked 90th).

Despite the loss, John F. Kennedy Catholic still got an impressive performance from Nick Ryan, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 13 boards. That was a full 37.9% of John F. Kennedy Catholic's points, marking the third time in a row Ryan has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Preston Geracitano, who had ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for John F. Kennedy Catholic and nudges their season record down to 12-8. As for Gilmour Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

John F. Kennedy Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-42 victory against Aquinas on the 15th. As for Gilmour Academy, they will square off against Rocky River at 7:00 p.m. on February 22nd.
