Softball Recap: South-Doyle Extends Winning Streak to Three

South-Doyle lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Loudon, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Cherokees never let the Redskins get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Cherokees, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Haylee Richards was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rheagen Thomas, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

South-Doyle's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-6. As for Loudon, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Coming up, South-Doyle will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Campbell County at 6:00 p.m. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.37 runs per game on average), something the Cherokees will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Loudon, they will head out on the road to take on Polk County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
