Basketball Preview: Potter Valley Bearcats vs. Point Arena Pirates

Potter Valley is 1-9 against the Pirates since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Potter Valley Bearcats will head out on the road to take on the Point Arena Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Potter Valley comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

On Saturday, Potter Valley was beaten by the Cardinals 74-30.

Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Point Arena's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 71-59 to Round Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Point Arena's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Derek Billy, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, and Fernando Lopez who scored 20 points along with five rebounds. Billy hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Cody Chavez, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.

Potter Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Point Arena, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6.

Potter Valley was dealt a bruising 83-23 loss at the hands of the Pirates in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lopez, who scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Now that Potter Valley knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
