Baseball Recap: Westhill Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cortland, Westhill was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Chittenango Bears by a score of 4-1. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won six in a row.

Westhill let Tommy Hunt and Kellen Pens run wild. Hunt got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Pens went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Hunt has brought in this season. Johnathan Murphy was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Westhill pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Chittenango, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westhill will venture away from home to challenge South Jefferson at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chittenango, they will challenge East Syracuse-Minoa at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
